We launched Loans Canada (SID 3766911) in 2012 as a way for Canadians to search for consumer loan options beyond payday loans. At the time, the online loan space in Canada was dominated by payday loan companies. As pioneers in our space, we played a major role in making more affordable loans accessible to Canadians while at the same time helping traditional lenders tap into new markets.
We focus on creating educational content and comparison tools that consumers can trust to make informed decisions about their finances. Empowering the consumer has always been at the core of what we do and our focus has been well rewarded by the millions of Canadians using our platform every year.
What kinds of advertisers are you looking to partner with in our network?
We are interested in promoting financial services that create value for our customers. We’re interested in expanding our product suite, especially on the credit card and insurance side as we feel we have a lot of room to grow in those product verticals.
What is a fun fact about your company?
In 2020, we were selected as the Best Personal Loan Provider in Canada by Greedy Rates and we were nominated in the Finance SEO category for the Canadian Search Awards. We did not win the search award, but coming in second to Wealthsimple was quite an achievement for a small team like ours!
Who is your target audience?
Our target audience skews younger. Most of our users are 25-34, with our second largest segment in the 35-44 age range. With Loans Canada and Prets Quebec, we cater to credit-challenged Canadians but with our new brand, Rate Genie, we now can cater to Canadians on the higher end of the credit spectrum.
What new products/features is your company offering?
We offer personal loans, debt relief solutions, credit building solutions, credit cards, mortgages, insurance products, and more. Our Loans Canada and Prets Quebec (SID 3767419) brands primarily target the consumer loan and credit markets.
This year we launched a new brand: Rate Genie (SID 3767418) which is geared more towards insurance and banking services. Here, we focus on product reviews and educational guides to help consumers traverse through the complicated world of saving, investing and financial protection for their families.
With newfound reach across our major brands, moving forward we are happy to announce we will be able to provide all Canadians, no matter their credit standing, with experiences tailored specifically to their financial situation.
Describe your company in one word:
Trustworthy. At the end of the day, we know that trust is everything. Though it is an unspoken agreement that we have with our customers, we know they keep coming back to us because we put their needs first and they trust our information. Similarly, we know that we owe the long relationships we have with our advertisers and publishers to our commitment to transparency, and they trust us because of it.
By focusing on our product first, we have been able to keep our promise of earning consumer’s trust. When we started Loans Canada it was just Cris Ravazzano (with a computer science background), and Scott Satov (with a finance background and a passion for personal finance). Neither of us had any experience with marketing. It is rare to see comparison websites like ours headed by people who are product-focused instead of marketing-focused, and the results speak for themselves.
