The news follows the Euronews launch in June 2020, the first live channel platform on Rakuten TV. The launches move to enrich the platforms content offering across its advertising-video-on-demand (AVOD) service.
The expansion of Rakuten TV’s content offering for Samsung TV Plus and Euronews is a further step in a disruptive strategy to enhance the news dedicated offering on the free ad-supported section, that includes themed-channels with Hollywood movies, kids’ content and exclusive and original content.
Samsung TV Plus, sits within Rakuten Advertising’s unified portfolio where advertisers can buy media across various channels, including the Viber messaging app and Viki video-streaming service alongside Rakuten TV. Through this single point of access, brands can develop focused, strategic campaigns based on Rakuten Advertising’s rich consumer insights driven by an unrivalled depth of audience, media, and content network data.

As a difficult segment of viewers to reach, brands in the B2B arena have limited opportunities to choose from, especially on Connected TVs. The CNN partnership further reinforces the scale of opportunity that Rakuten Advertising brings in accessing B2B viewers, with many brands increasingly looking exclusively at news routes to engage with finance and business professionals. Rakuten Advertising will also work with CNN International Commercial to provide CNN clients with access to inventory on the CNN presence on Samsung TV Plus.
The CNN International feed provides award-winning news and features programming 24 hours a day, available via the TV Plus app on smart TV devices from Samsung Electronics from 2019.
The channel portfolio of content provides new with a European perspective cover current affairs, business, culture, sport, sci-tech and lifestyle. Its live feed is available in six languages including French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Spanish, and English which is available for the remaining European countries.

Euronews’ content is available within the Rakuten TV app on Samsung Electronics and LG Smart TV models from 2019.
