We sat down with industry leaders in digital advertising during DealMaker Scottsdale this past January, and now we’re sharing these interviews in our latest series on the Rakuten Marketing Radio podcast. Our first interview was with Dr. Neal Richter, the CTO of Rakuten Marketing.

As a content manager, I try to make it a priority to attend as many conferences as possible. The love for travel is part of it (bonus points if I get to travel somewhere warm during the winter and escape the bitter Chicago cold for a few days) but really it comes down to my love for learning new information. Getting to attend DealMaker Scottsdale 2018 this past January, hosted by Rakuten Marketing, was the perfect blend. I was able to enjoy the nice Arizona weather while having conversations with digital advertising experts and thought leaders. Through this event, I gained insights on what the latest trends and evolutions are in digital advertising.

Some of those experts work at Rakuten Marketing. Neal Richter, the CTO of Rakuten Marketing, is a perfect example of this. Neal is an industry-renowned digital advertising thought leader who was awarded the IAB Tech Lab’s Esteemed Service Excellence Award this year for “his significant contributions in developing trustworthy supply chain specifications and OpenRTB 3.0.” As far as expert insights go, Neal was fantastic to sit down with and pick his brain for an hour.

During the course of our conversation, Neal and I talked about a range of topics from ad fraud and artificial intelligence to the direction that virtual and augmented reality is heading towards. Ad fraud has been an especially important topic in the world of digital advertising, with Tony Zito, CEO of Rakuten Marketing discussing it in a recent article published on Forbes. Neal’s additional insights illustrated what every marketer should know and plan for to protect themselves from ad fraud, and what they should be aware of.

In our latest edition of Rakuten Marketing Radio, hear Neal share his expertise on ad fraud, VR, AI, and more. The interview – recorded at DealMaker Scottsdale – is one that every marketer should hear and leverage in their marketing planning.
