Spread Love This Pride Month

We love all love and believe all love is equal. This month, we’re celebrating Pride, unity and the LGBTQQIP2SAA community, its cultures and its rights.

To celebrate Pride Month 2021, Pride+, Rakuten’s Employee Resource Group (ERG), has organised a variety of initiatives in June to support and bring awareness to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Internally, we will be profiling our LGBTQIA+ staff in our newsletters to share their stories and uplift their voices. We have added new LGBTQIA+ charities to our Rakuten Cares platform where employees are able to donate to their chosen cause. We have created Zoom backgrounds for our employees to express their pride or allyship and built an internal site collating curated Pride+ educational resources and news about all Pride Month events.

We are hosting a variety of virtual events for our employees this month, including a company-wide presentation with Canadian/American writer, multidisciplinary artist and activist Kim Katrin, a movie Q&A with DISCLOSURE director and producer Sam Feder, and regional virtual Pride events throughout the month.

We are also improving our talent acquisition processes to ensure equitable and diverse hiring. This includes mandatory interview training, diverse interview panels and interview documentation.

For Rakuten Rewards members in the US, we are highlighting merchants carrying Pride collections and who are donating to LGBTQIA+ charities so our members can support the cause with their purchases. We will also be sharing books, movies, documentaries and music that support and raise awareness about the community.
